About

I am a 26 year old fashion designer from Chalfont St. Peter/Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, England, living and working in North London.

My designs focus on bold graphics, classic shapes and intricate fabrications. I am largely inspired by a breakcore-esque fury of (sub)cultural references.

I am currently stocked at Fantastic Toiles and Satellite Store in London.

You can commission me via the contact page or dm me on instagram @jontykmellmann

My record label is Countryside Rave Art Project Records.

I studied Art Foundation at Bucks New and BA (Hons) Fashion Design at the University of Westminster.

I interned for Walter van Beirendonck, Nasir Mazhar, Cottweiler, Liam Hodges and HANGER inc..

I have worked as a seamstress for a variety of brands/designers; including Magpie Vintage, Nasir Mazhar and Bradley Sharpe.

I make clothes as sustainably as I can- usually made towards a concept or an idea of the wearer. Some level of sustainability is achieved through the use of deadstock materials, recycled fabrics, charity shop clothes, offering a free repair service on my items and working mainly as an artisan. All things are designed, bought, chopped up, cut, sewn, et cetera by yours truly, although in the future some items will be made on a cottage industry scale. I am not perfect though, so yes some things are new- usually trims, synthetic fabrics and snaps, buttons, etc.

If you want to know exactly what a certain piece is made from, message me and I will explain exactly where each component is from. I recognise that deadstock is a by-product of a wasteful industry and in a way, using deadstock fabrics relies on the current state of the industry versus changing it/innovating.

AW/2021 Countryside Rave Art Project (C.R.A.P)

My graduate collection was inspired by a fictional subculture within which the styles, symbols and sounds of crusty ravers and the characters of the British countryside melt together in an acid fuelled frenzy. Tweed meets terrorcore, acid techno meets argyle and Bruegel-esque paintings depict bopping basslines. C.R.A.P is what I would now call a 'style' of my work.

Red Rubber Roses.

A collection of sorts in 3 parts, inspired by the lunatic fringe of internet and physical subcultures, Skateboarding, NASCAR and Speed Racing, French Hardcore, Speedcore, Harsh Noise, Apocalyptic Folk, Equestrian Fetishism, Luxury Fashion, Horse Riding, Horse Tranquilizers, those crazy kids on the Tik Tok, Online (Identity) Politics, Conspiracy Theorists, Truthers, ‘Realists’, Religious and Apocalyptic themes in modern culture, Dominatrixes, Divas, D-Beat Delinquents, Death and DONK. part. 1: Reduced, Re-used, Recycled/Rehashed, Remade, Rejected/Really, Really Random.
